This is the companion DVD to the Southern Ocean volume of the World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) Atlas Series.

This electronic version of the atlas contains the same material as the printed version and consists of three main components: Full-depth vertical sections of properties, horizontal maps of properties on depth levels and density surfaces, and property-property plots. The DVD version also includes text files with the source WOCE data used in the production of the atlas figures
.

The vertical sections feature potential temperature, salinity, neutral density, potential density, oxygen, nitrate, phosphate, silicate, CFC-11, total CO2, alkalinity,
d3He, tritium and D14C against depth along the WOCE Hydrographic Programme one-time lines.

The horizontal maps combine the WOCE data and all available (http://woceSOatlas.tamu.edu) historical data for each ocean. The property maps describe seven depth levels (50m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 2500m, 3500m and within 200 m of the sea floor for water depths greater than 3500 m) and five neutral density surfaces (27.40 kg/m3, 27.84 kg/m3, 28.05 kg/m3, 28.20 kg/m3, 28.27 kg/m3).

The property-property plots show the above mentioned parameters against potential temperature (as in the printed volume).

Graphical images are provided as .pdf and .jpg files that can be used in the preparation of written publications, web sites and electronic presentations. The source of the images should be acknowledged as "From the WOCE Southern Ocean Atlas"

A mirror online site with any potential updates of the material in the DVD is available at http://woceSOatlas.tamu.edu.

WOCE is a project of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) which is sponsored by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO.
